Aspiring doctors fear the MCAT with good reason: The exam is a daunting 7.5 hours long and covers much more than just the facts about basic sciences. It's an in-depth, rigorous examination of knowledge of a multitude of physical and biological scientific concepts and principles, as well as critical-thinking and writing skills. A new section called Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills (CARS) was added to the MCAT in spring 2015, reflecting the fact that medical schools want well-rounded applicants from a variety of backgrounds. MCAT Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills Prep, 3rd Edition, will help students with key CARS topics like structure and pacing, content, ranking passages, annotating and mapping, active reading, and more.
