We will be closed from 2:00pm on Wednesday, November 25th until 9:00am on Monday, November 30th. Have a Happy Holiday! Why buy from the bookstore? We understand that textbooks are expensive. You may be tempted to buy your books elsewhere in order to save money. Please consider the following when you make your decision. Instructors and departments specify the books they want purchased by students. While searching for these books, you may think you are getting the same thing at a cheaper price. However, you may get something totally different. Many of the books used at TMCC are custom editions and therefore have no edition. Supplemental components may not be included and may be required to take the class. If instructors are changed or specific instructors decide to change a textbook, we will take back the book at the bookstore if it is in original condition, you still have the receipt and you act timely. If you buy books elsewhere, and the book is changed, can you return the book? The best way to get the right books, with all the right components, is to buy your books at the bookstore. Save your receipt for returns and don’t open any package until you are sure you have the correct item. Don’t write in books until you are sure you are staying in the class. And watch the “last day to return” book date posted in the store, on your receipt, and in the class schedule. At the end of the semester, if you don’t want to keep the book for your personal library, check with the bookstore for buyback value. What determines this value? If the book is being used at TMCC, we don’t already have too many, the book is in good condition, (no loose pages, no writing on workbooks, no water damage,) then we can often give you half back. If the book is not being used, but is still current on other campuses, it may still have partial value.
And finally, check the first week of class to make sure you bought the right books. Different sections of the same class may use different texts so even if you thought you had the right item, you might not. Returns are the first week only, with receipt, so check with your instructor, check the syllabus but don’t wait until you go to use the book to find out it is wrong. WEB ORDERS:
