eBooks at MCC
While the adoption of eBooks is growing and offers promise for the future, the format is still in an early phase of standardization. The current state of competing readers, software platforms, and vendors can be confusing when choosing to rent or buy an eBook.
Also, the MCC wireless network does not serve all classrooms; therefore, access to the Internet from any given location cannot be guaranteed.
To guarantee the use of your eBook, it is recommended that you consider purchasing in formats that meet the following criteria:
•Accessible offline – does not depend on an Internet connection once downloaded.
• Usable on your preferred device, i.e. computer, smartphone, eReader or tablet.
•Compatible with Blackboard if used for an online course.
One such platform is CaféScribe, offered through the MCC Bookstores. CaféScribe also offers ADA (508) compliance, and support for group activities at a significantly lower cost than print. Digital titles corresponding to adopted print titles are advertised both in the bookstore and on the eFollett website.
To order eBooks choose "Textbooks" and place an order for your Dept Course and Section when ebboks are offered as a choice. You will receive a URL and a web access code to access your eBook.
