This American Courthouse
This American Courthouse is a celebration of the Westmoreland County Courthouse, standing for nearly one hundred years at the center of civic life for the County. The Courthouse is an enduring example of the best of American B e aux Arts Architecture. In recognition of this important anniversary, editors Tim Kelly and Mike Cary have coordinated the efforts of local authors and historians, to produce a commemorative history of the Courthouse and its denizens. Chapters deal with the history of the Courthouse and its predecessors, as well as its architect, decoration, and contemporary milieu. Subsequent chapters focus on the role the Courthouse has played in the development of both the legal community, and the larger community of the County. The entire volume is beautifully illustrated in full-color with period photographs, post cards, doc uments and memorabilia, many never before published, as well as brilliant color photographs taken especially for the centennial by talented local photographer and lawyer, Mark Sorice.
